Some things to do on a One Tank Trip on Valentine’s Day.
You can drive to Loveland, near Cincinnati, which bills itself as “The Sweetheart of Ohio.” The local chamber of commerce holds a contest each year for the best Valentine. You can buy the 2010 version at the chamber. You can also take all of your Valentines to Loveland where chamber volunteers will stamp each envelope with a special Loveland postmark before mailing them. Above you can see a copy of this year’s official Valentine as well as a copy of the postmark. If you can’t get to Loveland to personally get your Valentines dropped off you can mail them, addressed and with postage applied, send all of them to the Chamber of Commerce who will postmark them and then remail them at the Loveland Post Office. Just send the mail to: The Valentine Lady, Loveland Area Chamber of Commerce, 442 West Loveland Avenue, Loveland, Ohio 45140 or visit them at their website: www.lovelandchamber.org for all the details.
You can celebrate both Valentine’s Day and President’s Day at the Hayes Presidential Center in Fremont with a romantic horse-drawn sleigh ride around the beautiful 25 acre estate that was home to our 19th President. The sleigh rides will run snow or not, (the sleighs are equipped with wheels in case of no snow) from Feb. 12-15 and will cost just $3.00 a person. For more information visit the Hayes Presidential Center, which was home to the nation’s first presidential library, at www.rbhayes.org
Or, how about a mystery trip for your significant other on Valentine’s Day? The destination would be the Ohio Historical Center in Columbus. At the American House Hotel in the Ohio Village historical complex. On Feb. 12 and 13th they will be serving romantic candlelight dinners followed by a concert by the Ohio Village Singers of romantic music, readings and love poems. Its by reservation only, so call 800-686-1541 or visit them at their website: www.ohiohistory.org
