You too can visit the Center of the World right here in the Buckeye State. It’s located in Trumbull County near the intersection of State Route 5 and State Route 82, just west of Warren. Reportedly the Ohio Department of Transportation has had problems with thefts of these signs over the years.
It all started when a merchant in the 19th century hoped to build a merchandising empire at this location and so he gave the new community the grandiose name of ” Center of the World”. Sadly the community didn’t develop as large as he expected so he moved to new location farther east.
Technically Center of the World is an unincorporated community in the township of Braceville in Trumbull County. The sign is just about the only attraction in the community.
So if you know someone who thinks the world revolves around them take them to visit the real Center of the World.

Jane and I — natives of Warren — got a big kick out of your piece on Center of the World. We used to chuckle about that in my family when we were kids – my father having been a native of Kansas – always had a comment when we dove by those signs.
I also enjoyed your item about the first black elected official, I had never known that.

We just passed that sign yesterday and joked about it. How wild. It is an actual spot right here in Ohio. Pretty cool! The geographical area appears to be very simple needing a makeover.
I had read a scripture about Jesus/Love and being the Center of the World. Then the next day I woke up in a hotel went to get coffee and Saw the Center of the World 55555 wood huge sign. Really Happened. Wheres is the Picture of that sign. A.L.L> New Jersey
